Record Snows Lead to New Trail at Mount Snow

West Dover, VT- Record amounts of snowfall continue to blanket Mount Snow this season, with this week’s storm adding another 14″ to the tally and giving the mountain its snowiest February since 2001. Over two feet have piled up in the last 10 days, bringing February’s total to 50″ and allowing Ski Patrol to open a brand new trail.

With just one more inch of snow, Mount Snow will reach a season-total mark of 11 feet, which is 18″ above average for this time of year, and already above the entire 2006-2007 snowfall total.

“We’ve had an unbelievable February. Conditions are about as good as they get right now,” said Kelly Pawlak, Mount Snow’s General Manager. “And the best part is that March is typically our snowiest month of the year. So it’s only going to get better!”
With base depths near six feet in spots, Ski Patrol Director Heath Woods decided to open a trail under the Summit Local chairlift, a clearing that was not even considered a trail until recently. “The snow is just too good, and this ‘trail’ was just begging to be opened,” said Woods. “I guess now we have to name the thing.”

Mount Snow’s terrain is 100% open, including 107 (now 108?) trails, nine tree skiing areas, five terrain parks and The Gut Superpipe.
