Newry, Maine (January 9, 2009) – New this season, Sunday River announces the addition of the Jib Jamboree rail jam – the resort’s first rail competition set under the lights. Open to skiers and riders, this evening event boasts over $1,000 in prizes and is Sunday River’s only qualifying event for Sunday River amd Sugarloaf’s Downtown Showdown rail jam taking place during Portland, Maine’s first ever WinteRush on February 14. The Jib Jamboree takes place at Sunday River’s South Ridge on January 17.
“The Jib Jamboree will be one of Sunday River’s best rail events of the season,” said Nick Roma, terrain park manager for Sunday River. “Our crews work hard to build new and challenging features each year for various competitions. Jib Jamboree will be the first competition we hold in conjunction with the resort’s new night skiing and riding and the course features will not disappoint.”

Registration for Sunday River’s Jib Jamboree will be from 4-5pm in the Sunday Sessions snowboard shop located in South Ridge Lodge. The rail event will start at 6pm in the lighted South Ridge terrain park followed by an after party with prizes in the Foggy Goggle. Jib Jamboree entry fee is $15; an evening lift ticket for the event is $20.
