Yesterday Mount Snow, Vermont opened with a lift-serviced early season terrain park.  It was the earliest that Mount Snow had opened with lift-served terrain in its over 50 year history and for the second year in a row they were the first resort in Vermont to open for skiing and riding.  Liv2Ride made the 4 hour drive up from Jersey to take in this historic event.  8 hours of driving for 4 hours of riding, but it was all worth it to break the seal on the 09/10 season and get back on snow again.
The park, constructed on the discovery learning hill, consisted of about 12-15 jibs, 1 small jump and some natural rollers. 800 passes were sold over the weekend with all the proceeds going to the Deerfield Valley Food Bank.  Over $5,000 in cash and food donations were collected.   A great couple of days for a great cause.
Below is a short edit on the opening day conditions and terrain…

It really felt great to get back on snow after a long 6 months of withdrawal.  Conditions were what they were, but the rain held off, temps were in the mid 40’s and everyone was having a great time.  At its best, that’s what snowboarding is all about right?  Getting out with your friends and having fun!

Thanks to Mount Snow for giving us an outlet for our collective addiction and the chance to knock the rust off our edges.  Hopefully, this is a sign of good things to come our way this winter.  Let the season begin!

Mount snow was recently named by the TransWorld readers poll as the top resort in the east overall and #1 in the east for parks.  Follow all the action this season at
