Can We Get Some Cold Weather in the Northeast?

Ready and Waiting

Your name doesn’t have to be Storm Fields to tell that it’s been unseasonably warm here in the Northeast this fall.  Today several resorts including; Okemo, Mount Snow and Waterville Valley announced the postponement of their opening days due to warm weather.  Meanwhile, areas like Summit County in Colorado, Mammoth, Mt. Baker and even Mountain High and Bear Mountain in California have been experiencing some of the best early season conditions in years.  Where’s the justice?

Apparently, I’m not alone in my frustrations.   I had to smile when I came across this recent resort update from Mountain Creek, NJ’s new snow reporter, Halley O’Brien yesterday:

You know… It really bothers us when we hear someone refer to this weather as “beautiful.” Stop right there, Mr. Summerlover – this weather is NOT “beautiful.” To us skiers and snowboarders, it’s downright torturous. Those of us at Mountain Creek are over this “beautiful” warm weather thing.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself Halley.  Bring on the snow!
